We are designed to give clients personal attention and deep expertise. Our core team of Bryan and Anna is based in Indianapolis and Carmel, Indiana. Our advisory team members participate in projects as needed, bringing unique skills and global perspectives. We also host interns who build skills in strategy, marketing, narrative and visual communications, design thinking, or social impact. We partner with consulting firms, philanthropic foundations, and creative agencies that seek our complementary skills in strategy, design, executive coaching, and communications.

Bryan Richards

Bryan leads our team. He serves as a sounding board for executives by combining strategic thinking with creative problem-framing and ideation skills. He encourages and challenges clients to think through issues from customer-centric and long-term perspectives, discovers and shapes new opportunities, teaches board and executive leadership skills, and uses creative and analytical skills to resolve pivotal issues across an organization. 

Bryan's background is in entrepreneurship, strategy, and nonprofit leadership. He has been a management advisor, operations designer, and marketing professional for PricewaterhouseCoopers and several Fortune 500 clients, a policy developer for the Mayor of Indianapolis, and the director of a social impact center at Harvard. In addition to running Aspen Impact, Bryan teaches design thinking and visual communications at Indiana University's Herron School of Art and Design.

Bryan has served on the global Board of Directors for the Harvard Alumni Association and on boards for health, education, and arts organizations across the United States. As a member of the Indianapolis community, he completed the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series and volunteers in sports, arts, and education. He also enjoys visual design, photography, literature, and travel.

Anna Leung

Anna guides clients in the design of management practices and the evaluation of operational performance. She has expertise in social services and nonprofit management, real estate, advanced technology, logistics and distribution, and health care. Aspen Impact’s clients praise her for her ability to translate complex financial information into everyday language and practical solutions.

With business experience in the United States, United Kingdom, and Hong Kong, Anna also advises international entities. As a fluent speaker in English and Cantonese, Anna is adept at running projects for clients in North America, Western Europe, and China.

Prior to joining Aspen Impact, Anna was a Certified Public Accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Katz, Sapper & Miller. She has been active in community service through People Making a Difference, Bosma Enterprises, Massachusetts Association for the Blind, Wellington Theatre Group, and the Indiana Sports Corp.

Anna enjoys traveling, reading, studying languages, dancing, and bowling. She is now learning Spanish and rollerblading. If you see her zooming along Indianapolis's Monon Trail, run for cover!

Advisory Team

Jaeeun in Seoul

Jaeeun Chae

Jaeeun Chae is an advisor for projects in education. She is an expert in international education programs and policies. She counsels university and government officials on ways to energize and modernize educational systems, improve college access, and support students. Her work has taken her to the USA, Canada, France, Korea, Laos, Vietnam, and Algeria, among other places.

Besides consulting on education matters, Jaeeun is a professor of education and public administration in Seoul. She was previously an official in the South Korean Ministry of Education and examined education policies in developing countries for the World Bank. She has published research papers in international journals such as the Asian Pacific Journal of Education and through her graduate work at Harvard University. Jaeeun holds undergraduate and law degrees from Ewha and Seoul National University, respectively, plus master’s and doctoral degrees in education and social policy from Harvard.

Jaeeun enjoys hiking, travel, church, and reading.

Simon west of Nairobi.jpg

Simon Laub

Simon focuses on the design and management of science and information technology innovations. An expert in computer systems, he is fluent in multiple computer languages and is skilled in designing large-scale systems, charting work processes, and developing technology solutions.

Simon’s experience spans fields as diverse as health care, media, and telecommunications. He has completed projects for clients in Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States. His projects blend elements of advertising, graphics design, and clinical systems.

On the side, Simon does research in artificial intelligence, brain science, and cognitive modeling. He draws upon his graduate work in computer science from the University of Aarhus in Denmark.

He enjoys travel, journeying frequently in Europe and to destinations in North America, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, including places as varied as Sicily, Latvia, and Uzbekistan. In fact, Simon and fellow team member Bryan originally met in a cafe in Nairobi, Kenya!

Wei in Santa Monica.jpg

Wei Li

Wei is an advisor for organizational management and performance systems. She has presented research on these subjects for university conferences and discussions throughout the world, and has published her insights in journals such as the American Economic Review. As a traveler and speaker in the United States, Canada, China, and Europe, Wei provides guidance on ways for entities to bridge economic systems and cultures when conducting projects.

Besides her involvement in Aspen Impact, Wei teaches economic principles and applications as a professor of economics in Vancouver, British Columbia. She earned master’s and doctoral degrees in public policy and economics at Harvard and MIT.

Wei especially enjoys visiting Boston and her hometown of Xian, China. She also likes reading, cuisine, and hiking. The vibrant neighborhoods of Vancouver and the forests and mountains of British Columbia provide great settings for these activities!
